“What comes to your mind when you think about God is the most important thing about you.” A.W. Tozer
Tozer is one of my favorite theologians and his statement above has been one of the most revolutionary principles of my Christian life. I won’t spend time expounding in detail on that thought, because I’ve done that before on my blog. (Click this post to view it.) Pick up his classic book, The Knowledge of the Holy, for a great read on the character and attributes of God.
Our view of God, as Tozer says, is the most important thing about us. It is crucial for us to have an accurate, biblical view of the God of heaven. Colossians 1:15 says, “[Jesus] is the image of the invisible God.” Believer, we must spend much time studying the life of Jesus Christ in the Gospels. One-third of the New Testament (89 out of 260 chapters) is devoted to the God-Man’s 33 years on this lowly earth. We can know the Heavenly Father, His character, His love, His heart, His compassion, His justice, His grace, His power, His pain, by looking at Christ’s life. He tore the thick curtain of the Holy of Holies from top to bottom. The invisible God became visible…I beg you to open your eyes and open your Bible…you will see Him–Colossians 1:15 says so…
