October 31, 1980, my parents were celebrating their fourth wedding anniversary in a hospital room with Chinese food, because I decided to come a couple weeks early.

October 31, 2009, my parents give me a letter expressing their love and joy after 29 years of life…

Birthdays have a unique way of putting life into perspective, like not much else. “Where am I? What am I doing? What is my purpose? What is my life vision/dream/goal? How am I getting there? With whom am I in relationship?” These questions, and others like them, flooded my mind, heart, and spirit a few weeks ago in light of this day…

Some answers came quickly. Some are still being answered. Some questions continue to be asked of the Lord in the quiet of my heart. I am excited to see what God has in store on my journey to 30, this next year.

One thing I know: I will look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! I will wait for the Lord. I will be strong. My heart will take courage. I will wait for the LORD. (Psalm 27: 13-14)
